Editorial

It is an honor to be named Editor-In-Chief of MOJ Clinical and Medical Case Reports. It the short time since its inception the journal has matured into a resource that provides valuable information to our readers. This is the result of the efforts of a broad group of individuals. This starts with the publisher, who has made a commitment to develop the journal and includes the members of our Editorial Board whose commitment to the peer review process, coupled with their varied and extensive backgrounds in many aspects of medicine and medical research, has created a strong peer review process. Most important are our authors whose contributions are the core of what the journal is all about. The Case Report has played a long and important role in medical communication and education. We are committed that this journal will continue that tradition.
It is worth reiterating how important peer review is to medical publications. Peer review is the key to our credibility with readers. To maintain that credibility manuscripts for publication undergo blind reviews. At the completion of the review process, if there are questions or suggestions for the author these will be promptly communicated to the author. While authors are expected to respond to reviewer’s questions and requests for changes should there be unresolved issues authors may request resolution by contacting the Editor-In-Chief through the editorial office.

Recently two important goals that will significantly improve the reach and value of the journal to readers around the world have been accomplished. The journal has received an International Standard Serial Number (“ISSN”) and a Digital Object Identifier (“DOI”). The ISSN is a unique identifier for periodicals worldwide. Based on a Standard first developed by ISO, the International Standards Organization, in 1973, the ISSN facilitates journal recognition, indexing and enables electronic search capabilities. The journal has been assigned ISSN: 2381-179X. The DOI is issued by Cross Ref, an association of scholarly publications that develops shared infrastructure to support increased efficacy in scholarly communication in the digital age. Today, more than 75 million journal articles and other content items are included in the citation-linking network. Both of these will make it easier readers and researchers alike to access the journal’s content.

Finally, I want to emphasize that the fundamental purpose of the journal is to allow authors to communicate important, interesting and thought provoking case reports to their colleagues around the world. To that end we encourage submissions from all medical specialties. The publisher, editorial staff, Editorial Board members and the Editor-In-Chief are anxious to work with and support our authors.
